Clustered Tarweed (Deinandra fasciculata) is a ative annual herb in the Asteraceae (Sunflower) family. It was formerly classified as Hemizonia fasciculata, and some sources may still refer to it that way. It grows in southern and central California from the coast into the west slope of the mountains, from San Luis Obispo County southwards into Baja. It tends to grow in grasslands, woodlands and coastal sage scrub at elevations from sea level to about 4,000 feet. Its long blooming season makes it a dependable source of color in wildflower gardens. The composite flowers have 5 ray flowers and six disk flowers. It is sometimes included in wildflower seed mixes and is useful in restoration projects. From Calscape.
